The Galloway Forest and South Ayrshire have many great walks

There are many walks that can be started from the Dome from a 10-minute walk to the edge of the Loch or a full day hiking up the Awful Hand range. If you want to explore further afield a 30-minute drive takes you to Glentrool which lies on the Southern Upland Way (a 214 mile walk from Coast to Coast). Or down to the coast to the Ayrshire Coastal Path 107 miles of South West Coast.

For fans of Robert Burns and his Tam O’Shanter Poem there is Tam’s trail from Ayr to Alloway ( 3-miles) . This is a self-guided Tour retracing Tam and Meg’s journey home from the Inn on that faithful night. The app ‘Ayr through the Ages’ gives all the info on the 3 Blue Bonnet Trails.
